Haga Hideo (1921-2022) was an important folklore photographer who, from the 1960s on, dealt with festivals, folk customs and, above all, rural life in his photographic work, which was based on a scientific education (Japanese folklore). Our collection is a loan from the Haga Library in Tōkyō, one of the largest collections of photos with folklore themes on Japan.
